Every legend in the Caribbean started as a nameless soul stepping off a ship in Port Royal. Your class shapes what kind of legend you'll become β but it doesn't limit you. Many a pirate captain was once a naval officer. Many a witchdoctor was once a thief.
BUCCANEER
"Fortune favors the bold. I'm very bold."
The classic Caribbean pirate β blade in one hand, bottle in the other, and a ship full of loyal cutthroats at your back. Buccaneers live and die by the sword, trading finesse for raw aggression.
They hit hard, take hits harder, and have a supernatural talent for finding the most direct (and most violent) solution to every problem. Not subtle. Extremely effective.
PRIVATEER
"I'm not a pirate. I have paperwork."
A legal pirate β sailing under a Letter of Marque that authorizes them to attack enemy ships. Privateers occupy the uncomfortable space between law and crime, skilled at both the sword and the negotiating table.
They gain faction reputation faster, can access restricted areas, and have unique dialogue options with naval NPCs. The paperwork is real. The looting is also real.
NAVAL OFFICER
"Discipline, duty, and a 32-pound cannon."
Trained, disciplined, and backed by the full weight of His Majesty's Royal Navy. Officers are the most heavily armored class in the game, with unmatched tactical abilities and command skills that buff allies.
They're excellent in group combat and can inspire NPCs to fight for them. The catch: you're expected to actually enforce the law sometimes. Most officers find creative interpretations of their orders.
WITCHDOCTOR
"Baron Samedi and I have an understanding."
Practitioners of Vodou who walk the line between the living world and the spirit realm. Witchdoctors are the most powerful magic users in the Ebon Tides, capable of healing, cursing, summoning spirits, and communing with the Loa.
They have access to the main storyline's supernatural elements and can interact with the ghost ship quests in ways no other class can. Difficult to master. Devastating at high levels.
SMUGGLER
"I didn't see anything. Neither did you."
Masters of stealth, misdirection, and getting into places they absolutely shouldn't be. Smugglers can pick locks, move unseen, hide cargo from inspectors, and vanish from combat when things go sideways.
They have the widest access to the game's hidden areas and black market economy. If there's a secret door in Port Royal, a Smuggler found it first and is probably charging rent on it.
MERCHANT
"Every war is an opportunity. Every corpse had cargo."
Not all power comes from swords. Merchants control the flow of gold, goods, and information across the Caribbean. They buy low, sell high, and have a remarkable talent for being friends with everyone and trusted by no one.
They accumulate wealth faster than any other class, can run shops, and have access to rare equipment. Their combat skills are weak, but they can always hire someone more violent to handle the messy parts.
NAVIGATOR
"I know exactly where we are. Unfortunately."
Scholars of the sea: cartographers, astronomers, and explorers who understand the Caribbean as no one else does. Navigators discover hidden locations, can read ancient treasure maps, and move through the world faster than other classes.
They're the best class for solo exploration and treasure hunting. Moderate in combat, exceptional at finding what was never meant to be found β including some things that perhaps should have stayed lost.
CORSAIR
"I learned everything I know from someone who didn't survive teaching me."
The elite variant of the Buccaneer β Corsairs are master duelists who fight with speed and precision rather than brute force. They come from the North African and Ottoman maritime tradition, with fighting techniques that most Caribbean sailors have never seen.
They have the highest single-target damage in the game and unique dueling mechanics. Combat with a Corsair is a conversation. A very fast, very lethal conversation.
